Kinder and Pre-K Roundup March 30 – April 30, 2026

It is time for the Kindergarten and Pre-K roundup to begin!  Early enrollment dates are March 30 through April 30 for students wishing to attend in the 2026-27 school year.  Our enrollment is completely online at www.mgisd.net.  On the school’s home page, click the big, rectangular Registration button under Home of the Hornets, which will take you to the Ascender Parent Portal.  Here, click New Student Enrollment to create an account. You will complete the paperwork here, as well as upload the required documents which are listed below. This will not work using your phone, you will need to use a desktop or laptop computer. Children currently enrolled in PK and KG DO NOT have to re-enroll for the next school year. 

We will have a “Roundup Night” at school on April 23 from 4:30-6:30 in the elementary library.  We will have computers set up and assist you with all the paperwork if needed. Attendance to this is not required.    

Please note:  Early registration does not assure your child a spot in PK.  To ensure the safety of the children and the quality of their education, we can accept only a limited number.

 The following conditions must be met for your student to enroll in the district:

 Pre-K

  • Your child must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2026. 

And meet one or more of the following requirements to qualify without paying a tuition fee.

  • Qualifies for the Free/Reduced Breakfast/Lunch Program.  
  • Is unable to speak and/or comprehend the English language.
  • Is homeless.
  • Is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces or reserve component of the armed forces.
  • Is the child of a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while serving on active duty.
  • The child has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing.
  • Is a child of a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical first responder. 

Pre-K students who do not meet the above requirements may enroll in the district for a tuition fee of $600 per nine-week grading period.  Failure to pay by the first day of each nine-week period may result in unenrollment.

Kindergarten

  • Your child must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2026. No tuition is due.

 At the time of enrollment for Pre-K or Kindergarten classes, all new enrollees will be required to provide copies of the following documents:

  • The student’s Birth Certificate (to order a birth certificate, you may do so online at Texas.gov)
  • The student’s Social Security Card
  • The student’s most current Immunization Record
  • The Enrolling Person’s Driver’s License
  • Proof of Residence, such as a utility bill or tax statement
