On February 21, 2023, the Miller Grove ISD Board of Trustees adopted a 4-day school calendar for the 2023-2024 school year. This decision was not made hastily but was very thoroughly researched over a period of several months. We have considered the pros and cons of a 4-day week and believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The first day of school for students will be August 7, 2023, and the last day of school will be May 23, 2024. The instructional day will begin at 7:45 and end at 4:12. Students will be off each Friday. Student extra-curricular activities will continue on Fridays, but we are still working out the specifics regarding each activity.
We understand that this is a huge decision and that it will greatly affect our parents. The district hopes that approving the calendar early will allow parents ample time to make any needed arrangements to adjust to the new schedule. Based on the feedback from the survey that was sent last week, we realized that we needed to provide you with more information. We want to hear your feedback as we begin planning for next year to see if we can help with any of those concerns. We encourage you to visit your campus principal to share your thoughts. We want to make this transition as smooth as we possibly can for everyone involved. Please see the below.
